Significant extension and renovation of a Grade II listed farmhouse.
The scheme included the construction of a large basement, and Lutyens inspired oak framed Music Room. A large Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) was installed to supply heating and hot water to the entire property and several outbuildings.
The new basement was constructed directly adjacent to the historic listed areas of the building. Great care had to be taken to both support and protect these areas during construction. We coordinated several specialist artisans to carry out high-end bespoke finishes.
A large borehole array and GSHP installation was incorporated to provide a renewable heat source along with modern insulation that worked in harmony with the historic structure to help make the building fit for modern living.
Highlights
The original parts of the building were over 800 years old! Original wattle and daub was observed, recorded and encapsulated for future generations. The client’s love of craftsmanship meant we had the pleasure of working with woodcarvers, stonemasons, and artists to deliver a truly special project.
